Day 5 On the move
It's been a pretty positive day to today, firstly Mum's moved to a room of her own which is great and provides her with a bit more privacy. Additionally the hospital has been making enquiries about Mum being relocated to Kenepuru Hospital, subject to there being space. This isn't likely to happen for another two or three days but is still a positive sign.
Mum had a session with the physios today and apparently they were happy with how Mum was progressing. Mum was able to initiate minor movement of her right foot this evening, which was really pleasing.
The speech therapist was in again today and has given Mum a bunch of classic phrases to practice, which Mum was handling really well.
Mum is enjoying being able to eat food again and it continues to be a source of great commentary. The staff at the hospital are doing a great job and being so helpful.
From the family I also wanted to say a huge thank you for all the messages we have received and offers of support, these really have meant a lot to us all.
Pete

ReplyDeleteEllie and Keith visited on Friday to find Sue had been moved to another room again. Still her own room but bigger to accommodate a large wheelchair which Sue was sitting in. Sue was looking very pretty in a new nightie Graham had bought her, her face less drooped and her speech clearer. We didn't stay very long as Sue was tired, such a busy morning for her, her first shower, and Sue had been to the physio room and stood up with aid of the physio and bars to hold onto.
ReplyDeleteSue seems to be enjoying the texts coming in. Cheers
Great report. Thanks. Good for Graham in buying a new nightie!
DeleteGood to hear Sue is doing better and better. Gong Xi Fa Cai - Happy Chinese New Year!
